Honeymoon Swim
Honeymoon swim is a about vivid tropical color and speaks to Patrick's love of palm trees. Growing up in Maryland, there were no native palms so, like you, whenever he traveled and saw palm trees, he knew it was a special place. He saw these three palms in the caribbean on the island of Anguilla during his honeymoon. The important thing to capture in the art was the lacework of "sky holes " between the palm fronds and the electric color of the turquoise water beneath the caribbean sun. The shallows at noon reflect electric blue off the white sandy bottom and you know you are in the tropics. Another note is the use of oranges and reds in the palm leaves to make the greens sing. Like Claude Monet and the impressionists discovered, when you paint two complimentary colors side by side, they sing. The tiny lovers swimming, the bottle of Dom Perignon and the rum keg provide small rewards to the viewer only discovered when you look closely. If you need a big happy painting with a pop of color in your room, this one will set that tone perfectly.
